Do I Have to Get an Ignition Interlock Device If I Don’t Own a Car?
If you have been convicted of a DUI and as part of your sentencing are required to have an Ignition Interlock Device fitted to your vehicle but don’t own a car, you are still required to have it fitted to any vehicles you will be driving until your sentence period expires.
This means, for example, if you drive a company vehicle, your spouse’s vehicle, or any other vehicles, you will have to have an Ignition Interlock Device fitted to them. Otherwise, you cannot legally drive them.
The short answer is that for the duration of your sentence you are not permitted to drive any vehicles that do not have an Ignition Interlock Device fitted.
